Painted the bridgewalls today:

I think still too dark.

Determined the swing of the bridge and draw that on the layout:

Made a drawing for the right short trestle. Starting with a piece of A4 paper:

Marked the end points:

With the help of this tool once belonged to my dad (he was a carpenter):

Drawing the lines:

And glued it on a piece of board:

Oeps... had to be mirror image so I made a new one and glued that on the other side of the board:

Measuring out the place of the ties:

And the stuff needed to make this drawing:

With the drawing of the kit and the SP plans I can make a fairly precise copy of it:

And in the layout to see if it will fit:

I rearanged my garage this week to fit the layout:

Signal bridge part 2

This morning I went on with the bridge. This is my work space:

The first crossbrace:

All 3 in place, testfitting the legs:

First leg glued on:

And with both:

The floorboard that is with the bridge. It has to be shortened according to the photo:

And testfitted with the top together on the bridge:

This is what is provided for the electric wire that is necessary to power the lights on the bridge:

I will not use that and try to find the thinnest wire possible.

Building the Summit signal bridge

I started the signal bridge today. Modified it to look more like the one on Cascade Summit:

Started with a IHC kit:

The IHC one has to little girders in it. Also the prototype has a cross in the middle, due to the construction of the IHC kit I made two crosses in the middle.

Drawings

Bought some stuff and made the first 2 drawings. The first one is the pure plan with the rail geometrie:

The second one is with the only visible rail. In the bottom the showpiece of the layout, above the staging:

The plan is still named project unnamed.

Still running!

Did some testing today on this lazy afternoon (have my free days between shifts). Downloaded some track templates from Fast Tracks (http://www.handlaidtrack.com) to experiment with. Took the #10 and #8, printed them and cut them out (above two #10, below the #8):

And found that the #10's would fit:

Above is the #10 28/24 (28 inch outer radius, 24 inner radius), below the #10 24/20. Together they would fit nicely.

Problem; nobody makes them commercially. I could take the #8 from Walthers/Shinohara but a other option is that I build them myself. I already handlaid track on my 0N30 exhibition layout and on my 1:55n3 exhibition layout. So I do have practice enough to handle this task I hope.,
